Karnah Kupwara: Republic Day is celebrated on 26th Jan every year to commemorate the day on which the Constitution of India came into effect in 1950. This occasion marks the day when India became a Republic. This year the country is completing its 74th Republic Day and the same is being celebrated as part of “AAZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSHAV” throughout the country.
Army Goodwill School, Tithwal also celebrated the 74th Republic Day with great zeal and enthusiasm to celebrate the true independence and to embrace democracy. The theme of this year’s Republic Day celebration was “Jan Bhagidari” (Participation of the Common People). The event unfolded with Flag hoisting ceremony which was completely undertaken by Teachers, school children, their parents and civil administration. The National Anthem was sung by all when Flag hoisting was being undertaken. Thereafter, a cultural programme was also organised by the students. The programme consisted of welcome speech by the Principal, patriotic songs, group dance and skit. During his address, the chief guest emphasized about the importance of the Indian Constitution and the struggle faced by the constitution committee while drafting this constitution.
A light refreshment was also organised for the complete gathering. The celebrations were wholeheartedly witnessed by a huge crowd of more than 180 locals to include 100 students, 50 parents & 10 teachers. A few civil dignitaries were also present. Despite the school being on the line of control and extreme cold weather, the attendance of such a large gathering proved that the local populace feels safe and there is tranquility prevailing in the entire AOR. The efforts to reach out to the locals by all means to encourage them to attend the event also paid dividends.
