DC Gbl discusses roadmap to Measles-Rubella elimination in district

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today chaired a meeting of the District Task Force to discuss the roadmap to Measles-Rubella elimination in the district.

At the outset, the CMO Ganderbal, Dr Afroza Shah briefed the DC about the steps taken with regard to the implementation of a road map formulated by the Government for Measles, Rubella Elimination.

The DC urged the Health functionaries of the district to take all possible measures and give focused attention towards the Measles, Rubella Elimination in the District. He stressed on active participation of educational institutions in spreading awareness and sensitizing students about the infection of Measles and Rubella.

He sought coordinated efforts from all stakeholders and urged the health functionaries to adopt the multipronged interventions to identify the target and arrest the disease at the right time.

The DC also stressed for generating mass awareness about the preventive measures of Measles-Rubella disease, and asked the officers to identify the target groups and prepare separate plans for vulnerable groups.

The BMOs were directed to ensure that all the children should receive MR vaccine during the campaign besides conducting meetings at block level to contain the disease at grassroots level.

The meeting was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Dy. CMO, Consultant WHO, BMOs, District Surveillance Officer for measles and rubella and other concerned.
