Landslide hits house, killing woman in J&K’s Badharwah

A woman was killed after a landslide hit a mud house at Butla village of Sartingal Panchayat Segment in Badharwah district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning.

The two minor sons of the deceased woman sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Official sources told news agency that a landslide hit a mud house of a tribal Ved Kumar. They said that besides the wife Kirna Devi (40), his two sons Michle Sing (14) and Nixon Jaryal (10) got trapped inside the house.

Official sources added that after a rescue operation, the trio was retrieved and evacuated to the hospital where Kirna Devi succumbed to her injuries.

The civil and police officials visited the spot to assess the situation. The district administration provided monetary assistance of Rs 25,000 to the affected family.
