RAMBAN, SEPTEMBER 29: Indian Army constructed a 37 Ft long and 6 Ft wide pedestrian bridge with a load capacity of 1.5 tonnes over Mahu – Mangit nallah – a remote village of the District Ramban under “Friendship for Awaam” to improve the connectivity of remote portions of Mahu area.

The sturdy steel bridge unites the village and allows easy passage of pedestrians. Before this bridge existed, there was only a temporary wooden bridge that connected both sides of the village.

People faced numerous challenges and risks while crossing the wooden bridge. In the past, their access to the other side of the village was almost entirely blocked during the winter and early spring. In the winter, villagers could not cross the wooden bridge, fearing snow and due to frequent flooding of the nallah in spring, it was difficult to go to the other side of nallah.

Now, the bridge has enabled residents to have all-season access to both sides of the village, as well as to basic services and markets. Over 1200 people benefited from this bridge.

Awaam (General Public) expressed their gratitude and best wishes to the Indian Army on the successful completion of the project in less than 2 weeks.
