The policies were handed over to the farmers of Jammu, Samba & Udhampur district.

The Policy distribution process is being facilitated by IFFCO TOKIO & RELIANCE insurance companies in active collaboration with the Agriculture Department Jammu in Jammu, Samba & Udhampur in Jammu division and Anantnag in Kashmir division.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director AP & FW Department outlined that the said progamme has been launched as part of a distribution drive to deliver crop insurance policies to the farmers under ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath. The drive aims to ensure that all farmers get well-aware and equipped with all information on their policies, land records, the process of claim and grievance redressal under PMFBY.

He further informed that 50000 farmers in J & K UT have been covered under PMFBY during the current Kharif season and  insurance claims to the tune of 52 crores have been settled under PMFBY during Rabi 2021-22 covering more than 27000 farmers.   He added that this will mitigate the financial risk of the farmers facing crop losses and aid in stabilizing the farmer’s income. He emphasized that farmers should voluntarily come forward to enroll and get maximum benefits of farmers welfare schemes intended for the betterment of the farming community.

Pertinent to mention here that, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana(PMFBY) is intended to provide insurance coverage and financial support to the farmers in event of any crop failure of any of the notified crop as a result of natural calamities, pests and diseases. This will also ensure flow of credit to the agricultural sector by the way of crop loaning..

CAO Jammu, Arvind Baru, DAO (Extension), Murari Lal were also present besides others.
