Indian Army’s assault dog (Male) 74B7 Axel (DOB – 26/06/2020) of 26 ADU got hit by a bullet in an op while dply with 29 RR.

Initially, Aslt dog Bajaj went in first to sanitize the bldg. Having sanitized first room, the Aslt dog Axel was dply. The dog went inside the first room and cleared it. As soon as it entered second room, it was fired upon by the terrorist hiding in the room. The gunfight continued between the troops and terrorists and once the operation was over, Axel’s body could be retrieved. Axel’s handler also sustained superficial injury.

Post mortem was carried out at 54 Armed Force Veterinary Hospital which brought out that besides the bullet entry and exit wounds, more than ten wounds were also there along with a fracture of the femur.

Wreath laying ceremony was held at HQ 10 Sector RR attended by GOC Kilo Force and reps of JKP. The burial of the brave dog will take place in 26 ADU premises.
