Ganderbal, July 08: As a mark of celebration of World Population Day, the District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal organised awareness programme on July 8th, 2022 at Government Degree College Kangan.

The programme was held under the guidance of Mrs. Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

The programme was attended by Faculty Members & students of Government Degree College Kangan and PLVs of District Ganderbal.

Advocate Tanveer Ahmad
Bhat, Panel Lawyer District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal highlighted the theme of World Population Day “A World of 8 Billion: Towards a Resilient Future for All—Harnessing Opportunities and Ensuring Rights and Choices for All.”

World Population Day is observed on July 11 annually to create awareness about global population issues including the overgrowing population and measures to control it. The observance of World Population Day was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989 and was first observed on July 11, 1990.

World Population Day aims to raise awareness among the general population about various population issues such as the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health, human rights, etc. This day seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues.

World Population Day serves to highlight the growing problems that come with a growing global population. Overpopulation is a crucial issue, especially considering that world resources are depleting at an unsustainable rate. So effective population control measures is the need of the hour.

Vote of thanks was presented by Mudasir Nazar Parray, Assistant Professor, GDC Kangan.
