No nation can thrive and be successful and proud without protecting and promoting nationalistic ideals enriched by historical and cultural diversities. The love for motherland comes naturally to a person because she or he by virtue of birth becomes attached to the earth that he first lays his foot on. Nationalism and not jingoism is essential for any democracy to survive and thrive.

The armed forces of the India have established and sustained their credibility through dedication, sacrifices, professional competence, and operational effectiveness. Besides being defenders of the nation, they are the peoples armed forces unlike some countries where in Army calls the shots. Our Armed forces are accountable to civilian authorities and have to follow the principle of civilian supremacy.
