Police arrests drug peddler in Baramulla, contraband substance recovered

June 26: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

Officers from PS Pattan alongwith PP Palahalan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Shri Mohammad Nawaz-JKPS arrested one drug peddler during naka checking at Khamibyar Pattan and recovered 5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Ishfaq Majeed Dar son of Ab Majeed Dar resident of Mumkak Sopore. He has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Pattan and investigation set in motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
