International Olympic Day celebrated at Bandipora

BANDIPORA, JUNE 23: The District Administration Bandipora on Thursday celebrated the International Olympic Day in collaboration with Ali’s Sports Academy at mini secretariat, here.

The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed.

Speaking on the occasion he said that the aim to observe this day is to promote the idea of Olympics and to imbibe in children the interest towards athletic sport.

The event was attended by Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Padma Shri Awardee Faisal Ali Dar, students of Ali sports academy and officials from district administration.

The DC on the occasion interacted with the children who shared their view regarding Olympics with him.

Dr Owais said the administration is taking every possible initiative to promote sports and a special thrust shall be laid on  athletics that will not only help the younger generation to keep themselves physically and mentally fit but will help them to opt sports as a career.

He appreciated the efforts of Ali Sports Academy in giving a flip to the sports activities in the district and training the younger generation besides presenting sports as a career.
