DLSA Gbl celebrates ‘Elimination of Child Labour Week’ in honour of World Day against Child Labour

GANDERBAL, JUNE 22: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal under the aegis of J&K Legal Services Authority Celebrated ‘Elimination Of Child Labour Week’ in honour of World Day against Child Labour, today  at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan, here.

The programme was held under the guidance of Tabasum, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.

The Programme was attended by Principal Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan, Staff Members, PLVs and Students of the institution.

Speaking on the occasion, Advocate Abid Jeelani, imparted awareness regarding Elimination of Child Labour. He said the aim of observing programmes regarding child labour is to spread awareness about child labour and to take necessary measures to eradicate child labour from society.

He added that the day is meant to spread awareness about the harmful mental and physical problems faced by children forced into child labour.

While as Nasir Ahmad, faculty member of Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School Kangan spoke on Right to Free and Compulsory Education to children. He said every year on June 12, World Day Against Child Labour is celebrated. He added the aim of programme is to spread awareness about the practice of hiring minor children for labour and also encourages people to speak against this social evil practice.

He said this day also helps in educating parents of these children that employing a child is morally and illegally wrong.

Various such programmes and activities were also  conducted in different schools  by DLSA Ganderbal to raise awareness regarding ill consequences of child labour.
