Tourism Department in collaboration with RDD team & PRIs conduct joint cleanliness drive at Aghar Jitto Katra

REASI, JUNE 13: Capitalising upon the efforts and toil of other departments to clean the premises of Aghar Jitto, Tourism Department along with Rural Development Department team and PRIs organised a joint cleanliness drive today during early morning.

The Tourism department Team was led by AD Tourism, Ambika Bali, Assistant Tourist Officer Dr. Parikshit Sharma, local Sarpanches.

During the drive, all biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes were collected and segregated for the safe disposal of hazardous and harmful non-biodegradable wastes with the help of Municipal Committee Katra.

It is worthwhile to mention here that Annual Aghar Jitto Mela shall be formally inaugurated on June 14, 2022 and shall culminate on June 15, 2022.

Speaking on the occasion, AD Tourism Katra emphasized that it becomes our prime duty to keep our tourist destinations clean and plastic free for the visiting tourists. Such campaigns can be effective with the participation of local residents and aware citizens.

Prem Lata Sarpanch, Aghar Jitto, Ravi  Kumar, Sarpanch Akhli Buttan and Krishan Singh Panch Aghar Jitto along with locals also actively participated in the drive and appreciated the Tourism Department for carrying out the cleanliness drive and assured full support in carrying out such activities in future as well.

They also emphasized that in the next Gram Sabha, cleanliness and plastic free initiatives shall be taken up more vigorously and if need be, provision for fines shall also be discussed in the Gram Sabha to ensure clean tourist destinations especially Aghar Jitto, Nou Deviyan and Baba Dansar among others.
