3000 Patients avail super specialty level services

SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: In order to sensitize people about the importance of health and wellness behaviour and to bring varied health facilities at the door steps of the public, Medical Zone Khanyar today organized a Mega Block level Health cum Awareness Mela near Shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom Sahib(RA) in Shahr e Khas of Srinagar City.

The Health Mela was held under supervision of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad and inaugurated by the Additional District Development Commissioner(ADDC), Srinagar, Zahoor Ahmad Mir.

Chief Medical Officer, Srinagar, Dr Jameel Ahmad, Zonal Medical Officer Khanyar, Dr Tariq, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Srinagar, Hilal Ahmad Mir and other Senior Health functionaries, besides officials from other line Departments were present in the Health Mela.

The Health Mela witnessed huge participation of the local people and over 3000 people availed Specialists facilities including Gynae/Obst, Paediatrician, Orthopaedic, Surgeon, Ophthalmologist, General Medicine, Endocrinologist, Physiotherapist, ENT Specialist AYUSH and Dermatologist, besides special counters for registration of Golden cards and ABHA cards, free medicine and diagnostics were also set up for the visiting patients.

In addition, Food Safety Department had also set up a stall to sensitize people about healthy food habits and made them aware about adopting hygienic food habits.

On the occasion, the ADDC along with other senior Health functionaries had a round of various healthcare and wellness stalls set up in the Health Mela and inspected services being offered there.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADDC highlighted the objectives of holding such Health Melas. He said that the Health Melas will be beneficial in providing wellness behaviour among the masses, besides, preventive measures for diseases along with healthcare services for early detection and their treatment.

On the occasion, awareness was raised among the masses regarding the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Earlier, school children presented skit on health awareness and Food Analysis was demonstrated by the Food Safety team.

Pertinent to mention that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has directed the Health Department of J&K to conduct Health Melas in every Medical Block mass awareness of the people under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsov’ celebrations.

Continues cleanliness drive of Dal Lake under Athwas SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: To demonstrate support for environmental protection, the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) today celebrated the ‘Earth Day’. Chief Conservator of Forests, T Rabi Kumar was the chief guest at the event. Besides, Project Officer Gazalla Abdullah, other officers of LCMA and about 60 students from colleges and different schools from the vicinity around the lake participated in the event On the occasion, the students took out a rally displaying placards with a message of conservation of earth. The event was followed by plantation drive at Dagpark started by Chief Conservator of Forests Kashmir Kumar while addressing the students said that the need of an hour is to keep our surroundings neat and clean, which is the first priority to keep our earth green and clean. Protecting Earth should be our foremost duty, he added. Meanwhile, the cleanliness drive of the famous Dal Lake continued today for the consecutive 13th day after it was kick-started by Lt Governor of J&K under the initiative of ATHWAS. Today, the Chief Conservator of Forests started the cleaning of Lake by removing the weeds from it and students took part in the cleaning of Dal Lake by removing the weeds from the lake. Kumar congratulated LCMA for initiating such drives. He said Dal is the crown of Kashmir and it is the duty of one and all to keep Dal and surroundings clean.
