Continues cleanliness drive of Dal Lake under Athwas

SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: To demonstrate support for environmental protection, the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) today celebrated the ‘Earth Day’.

Chief Conservator of Forests, T Rabi Kumar was the chief guest at the event. Besides, Project Officer Gazalla Abdullah, other officers of LCMA and about 60 students from colleges and different schools from the vicinity around the lake participated in the event

On the occasion, the students took out a rally displaying placards with a message of conservation of earth. The event was followed by plantation drive at Dagpark started by Chief Conservator of Forests Kashmir

Kumar while addressing the students said that the need of an hour is to keep our surroundings neat and clean, which is the first priority to keep our earth green and clean. Protecting Earth should be our foremost duty, he added.

Meanwhile, the cleanliness drive of the famous Dal Lake continued today for the consecutive 13th day after it was kick-started by Lt Governor of J&K under the initiative of ATHWAS.

Today, the Chief Conservator of Forests started the cleaning of Lake by removing the weeds from it and students took part in the cleaning of Dal Lake by removing the weeds from the lake.

Kumar congratulated LCMA for initiating such drives. He said Dal is the crown of Kashmir and it is the duty of one and all to keep Dal and surroundings clean.
