March 05: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Boniyar under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Junaid Wali-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Bela Boniyar crossing intercepted a suspicious person identified as Naseer Khan@ Muna son of Gul Zaman Khan resident of Gubdar Trikanjan. During checking, officers were able to recover 10 grams of Heroin like substance from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Similarly, a police party of Police Station Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Syed Sajad Hussain-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Gantamulla Payeen intercepted 02 suspicious persons identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Samander Mir resident of Hyderpora Sopore and Feroz Ahmad Lara son of Ghulam Qadir Kara resident of Model Town Sopore and recovered 10 grams of Heroin like substance from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation set into motion.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
