UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 26: The Government schools on Saturday hosted Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM) via offline and online mode here across Udhampur district.
In the meeting, the main focus was on “Parenting during Stressful Examination Atmosphere”.
According to the DSEJ’s academic calendar the months of February and March are categorized as Examination months. The parenting tips were discussed to help students to cope with examination stress. Parents and students were made aware about the techniques usefull for stress management such exercise, relaxation, deep breathing, eating well, taking a break, making time for hobbies, talking about problems, visualizing success, time management, avoiding distractions etc.
To make parents part of examination, Teachers counseled them by providing insight into areas such as study skills and examination taking skills like allowing ward to study at a comfortable place, asking them to highlight important words and phrases, use of mnemonics and flowcharts, revising every section, packing and preparing everything a night before exam, starting from question one knows best, reading all questions carefully, solving previous year question papers, bring vigilant, sparing 10 minutes to review the paper etc.
The PTM, which is a monthly exercise, was attended and coordinated by HOIs and staff members of the schools.
The PTM came to an end with the conclusion that joint effort, mutual understanding and co-operation of parents and teachers is very important for the proper nourishment and progress of the students.
Chief Education Officer Udhampur, Arvin Kumar Koul said that such meetings are necessary to keep all stakeholders motivated and also welcomed the commitment shown by HOIs, teachers and parents who participated in the meeting.
He further added that these PTMs will be a space for parents to understand how to provide regular learning support to their children.

Participants were also briefed about the Violence and the types of Violence faced by the Women in general. They were made aware regarding prevention and elimination of violence against them.
The DLCW Staff encouraged the women to come forward and Break their Silence & Raise voice against the evils of the society. “Women facing any kind of Violence whether Physical, Sexual, Emotional, Economic and Dowry related harassment should Dial Toll Free no. 181 to get Access to Justice, Access to Welfare and Access to District administration” they were told.
