Major Revenue Scam in South Jammu
JAMMU: In a much publicized revenue scam, wherein Jammu Police and Revenue authorities carried out raids at 21 locations of 13 property dealers and serving and retired officials of Revenue Department besides arresting four persons and affecting recovery of Rs 26.63 lakh along with a large number of official documents, the Sub-Judge Jammu (13th FC) Suhseel Singh on Monday granted 8-day police remand of Sadeeq Poswal, property dealer of Channi Himmat; Mohammad Bashir, retired Tehsildar, resident of Janipur; Dharampal, retired Girdawar from Sarore and Ghulam Rasool, retired Girdawar hailing from Sunjwan.
Sub-Judge Jammu (13th FC) Suhseel Singh after hearing APP Kuldeep Bhat observed that through medium of this order, application for remanding accused persons in police custody is being disposed of after hearing Inspector Deepak Katoch SHO Police Station Channi Himmat and accused present in the Court. Senior Adv P N Raina appearing for Bashir Ahmed, the then Tehsildar perused the application.
Court after perusal of application observed that above named accused were arrested on February 20, 2022 in FIR 182/2021 registered under sections 409/120-B of IPC at Police Station Channi Himmat.
Court also heard pleadings of Sr Adv P N Raina and APP Kuldeep Bhat, appearing for prosecution and also perused CD File and the material placed on record.
“As investigation of the case is in progress, therefore keeping in view the nature of allegations and stage of investigation, I am satisfied with arguments advanced by APP. Thus accused persons produced before the court are remanded to police custody for a period of eight days and shall be produced in the court on February 28, 2022,” Court directed.
Rs 26 lakh cash, original Jamabandis, Roznamcha Registers, Lathas, Mussavis and trace maps especially of revenue villages Sunjwan and Chowadhi were seized during the simultaneous raids at 21 locations in Jammu and Samba districts on Sunday Raids were conducted at the houses and offices of three serving Revenue officials including a Naib Tehsildar, a teacher and a Probationer Sub Inspector (PSI), 5 retired employees and 8 private persons including property dealers. Most of these accused are already facing FIRs in various wings of J&K Police.
The raids followed the investigation in FIR 182/2021 registered on November 7, 2021 in Police Station Channi Himmat regarding missing of revenue records viz. Lathas, Masavis of village Chowadi and Sunjuwan of Tehsil Bahu.
