SAMBA FEBRUARY 15- Saying that the BJP is committed to socio-economic and political empowerment of the marginalized segments of Jammu and Kashmir, Pradesh Vice President Mr Surjeet Singh today referred to reservation of seats for the Scheduled Tribe community as a major and significant step towards their important role in the decision making.
“For nearly seven decades the Gujjar and Bakerwals have been deprived of this right by the successive government and the visionary decision of the reservation of seats for the community in the Legislative Assembly is in consonance with the Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi’s cherished slogan of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas”, Mr Slathia said at a reception accorded to him by the Gujjar and Bakerwal community besides the locals of Village Paltha and Nud Samba at two separate gatherings in Vijaypur Assembly Constituency this afternoon.
Mr Slathia slammed the so-called mainstream parties for cheating the Gujjars and exploiting them as pawns of their political agenda. Now after the reservation, the Gujjars can send their chosen representative to the assembly and become masters of their own destiny. This has been possible only because of the inclusive policies of the BJP which believes in empowerment of all and appeasement of none, he added.
The Pradesh Vice President lauded the contribution of the Gujjars towards the service of the nation and said they constituted second line of defense, as they have been rendering yeoman’s service in terms of assisting the defense forces whenever the country’s sovereignty and integrity was threatened by the enemy.
He said the BJP is determined to put Jammu and Kashmir on the progressive path of development and progress with equal opportunities available to all. He decried the elements that were creating fissures and fear psychosis among the people to further their political agenda. In fact, their divisive role is not hidden from anyone as under the garb of pseudo secularism, they were posing immense threat to the very concept of inclusiveness, he said, adding: “The BJP will foil their false propaganda by taking along all the segments of the society, irrespective of caste, creed, region or religion”, Mr Slathia said.
Referring to the issues confronting the people of the Vijaypur Constituency, Mr Slathia said these are being taken up with all the concerned with focus on getting these addressed in a time bound manner. He highlighted the need for smooth functioning of the utility services by the line departments in a synergized manner, employment to educated unemployed besides skilled and unskilled workforce.
“The problems of the people have manifested in the wake of pandemic and the administration must go whole hog in providing respite to the sectors that have suffered during the past nearly two years”, Mr Slathia added.
The gatherings were also addressed by the President BJP Women Wing Ms Sonia Thakur, BJP State Convenor Mr Anil Bhagat and others.
Prominent among those present on these occasions included Mr Varinder Singh Lucky, Incharge BJP Block Nud, District Vice President Mr Mohan Lal Sharma, Mr Vijay Singh, BDC Chairperson Mr Jogeshwar Singh, Mr Darshan Choudhry, Mr Dev Raj Sarpanches and Panches.
