The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated at Lonehare COB on 26 Jan 2022 to relive patriotic feeling within. This Republic Day primarily focused on the local valiant Ex-Servicemen, who have served the Nation in difficult times. The event was organised by Indian Army at Lonehare COB, which is part of Rationpora Forest. Besides local dignitaries, a total of 12 Ex-Servicemen were the guests of honour. As winter & snowfall has engulfed the valley & threat of COVID-19 looms all over, it was their patriotism for their Nation which made them to attend the event.
The event started with unfurling of the National Flag at COB Lonehare and was followed by informal interaction between the army persons and the ex serviceman. Medical checkup was also organised for all the ESM. Lunch was also catered for all the guests. Based on popular demand of the ex serviceman, a mobile CSD was placed for the veterans and their grievances were also addressed. The event ended with patriotic slogan of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’. The event achieved its aim of creating a patriotic feeling for the country & respect for Indian Army in masses. As one of them mentioned, “It’s a proud feeing for me as even after 20 yrs of retirement, I am being remembered by the organisation. I am thankful to Chinar Gunners & Corps Cdr of Chinar Corps for organising this memorable event for us. It makes me feel important that the organisation still cares about me. We came to know many updates about the army and also my many queries were resolved by interacting with other ex servicemen as well as interacting with the soldiers.” The ex serviceman requested that such events should be organised biannually.
