January 16: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 02 notorious drug peddlers in Ganderbal and recovered psychotropic substance from their possession.
A police party of Police Station Ganderbal under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal Shri Abdul Majid-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Arampora Crossing intercepted 02 suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to escape from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party. They have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Hakak resident of Duderhama and Mir Umer @Umer Gayas resident of Saloora. During checking, officers were able to recover 20 bottles of codeine phosphate from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 04/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
