However, Lotus said there is no forecast of any major snowfall in the region.
The Meteorological (MeT) Department has forecasted light snowfall in higher reaches while weather is likely to remain dry in plains on Sunday.
Director MeT, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that under the influence of approaching Western Disturbances (WD), “we are expecting fresh spell of snowfall in higher reaches from 16th January onwards and will likely to continue till 18th evening.
“While weather will remain mainly cloudy in plains in Kashmir,” he said.
“There is a possibility of light snow most likely over higher reaches of Gulmarg, Kupwara, Bandipora, Pahalgam and Sonamarg (Zojila pass), Drass and Zanskar,” he added.
However, Lotus said there is no forecast of any major snowfall in the region.
Following the weather conditions, there will be more dip in temperatures in the Valley, he added.
