The civil welfare program and to alleviate the hardships faced by the residents of remote villages near the Line of Control, a medical camp was conducted at Idgah in Wampura Village of Gurez valley by the Indian Army. 206 individuals hailing from Wampura, Khandyal and Badowan villages were benefitted in this noble drive conducted by the joint team of 02 medical officers and 01 dental officer of the Indian Army A small brief about the covid precautions to be adhered to and medical tips about winter management were given to kick start the campaign, follwed by the medical and dental check-ups. The major ailments observed were of high BP, cold ailments due to the harsh weather conditions and Back aches due to carriage of heavy loads for their sustenance. The villagers were given treatment and free medicines were distributed apart from medical advice by the team of doctors.
Finally, Medical kit boxes were distributed to the people for improving oral hygiene and giving handy first aid. Sanitary rounds of the households were done and appropriate advice was given for improving the hygiene standards.This initiative has not only helped in mitigating the medical hardships of these cut off villages but has also given them an assurance that the Army is working tirelessly for the development and welfare of Gurez.
