SIGNING OF MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR AND CHINAR CORPS

Srinagar, 08 November 2021.     A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between University of Kashmir (UoK), Srinagar and Chinar Corps on 08 November 2021 at Gandhi Hall, University of Kashmir.  It was a historic day for the UoK, Srinagar and Chinar Corps having established a long term relationship for provision of distance education courses to soldiers presently serving in Kashmir.

As envisaged in the MoU, the soldiers of Indian Army posted in Kashmir, will be able to seek admission for various courses being offered by the Directorate of Distance Education, University of Kashmir.  The type of courses being made available to Army personnel ranges from six months Certificate Courses to one year Diploma Courses and two years Post Graduate Courses.  A total of 18 courses are presently available for enrolment by the Army personnel, which will be increased in due course of time.

After the formal signing of the MoU, Professor Talat  Ahmad Vice Chancellor, UoK addressed the gathering and emphasized on core values of UoK and mentioned that the vital significance of long term MoU which will benefit the soldiers posted in Kashmir. Thereafter, Lieutenant General D P Pandey delivered an inspiring speech and praised the milestone achieved in the field of education, which will empower the soldiers of the Chinar Corps performing their duties in difficult terrain and challenging environment.  Speaking on the occasion, he said that education is the foundation of development of mankind and is the most powerful tool we have for nation building. He mentioned that the University of Kashmir, with its rich heritage, culture and academia, will provide a one of the kind opportunity for Army personnels and civil defence employees of Chinar Corps to pursue higher education qualifications, domain specialization and subject matter expertise. The GOC also emphasized that the association of Chinar Corps with Kashmir University will also further cement bond of Indian Army with people of Kashmir nurtured over last 75 years.

Lieutenant General D ­P Pandey, General Officer Commanding 15 Corps, Major General SP Vishwasrao, GOC 31 Sub Area, Professor Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor UoK, Prof Farooq A Masoodi, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof Tariq A Chisti, Dean & Director School of ODL/DDE and other academia including Deans/Head of Departments and faculty of UoK graced the event along with Senior Army officers from Chinar Corps and JAK LI Regt Centre.

The courses featuring in the MoU including MA/ MSc (Maths), MA (English), MA (Urdu), MA (Education) under 2 year courses and PG Dip (Computer Applications), PG Dip (Web designing), PG Dip (Cyber Law), PG Dip (Tourism Management) etc in the Diploma category.

 

 

LIST OF PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY THE DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY OF KASHMIR

02 Years Three-year B.A/B.Sc pgme with Maths/ Applies Math as on the sub or B.Sc Actuarial & Financial Maths or B.E/B.Tech with the Subject/discipline as one of the Elective Subjects or and equivalent degree recognized by the University/B.A/B.Sc with 24 Core Credits in the Discipline/subject, either as cone or Generic Elective at UG Level and CBCS scheme.
2. MA Economics 02 Years Three Years B.A. With Islamic Studies As One Of The Subject Or Three Year BA/B.Sc/B.Com Or Four Year B.Sc. Agriculture Course/Mba Graduates Or B.A / B.Sc With 24 Core Credits In The Discipline/ Subject, Either As Core Or Generic Elective At UG Level under CBCS Scheme.
3. MA English 02 Years [Three Yrs B.A with English Literature as one of the subject] or B.A./B.Sc with 24 Core Credits In The Discipline/ Subject, either as Core Or Generic Elective at UG Level under CBCS Scheme or BA honor in Eng.
4. MA Urdu 02 Years Three-year B.A/B.Sc pgme with the Subject/discipline as one of the Elective Subjects or and equivalent degree recognized by the University/B.A/B.Sc with 24 Core Credits in the Discipline/subject, either as cone or Generic Elective at UG Level and CBCS scheme.
5. MA Islamic Studies 02 Years Three Years B.A. With Islamic Studies As One Of The Subject Or Three Year BA/B.Sc/B.Com Or Four Year B.Sc. Agriculture Course/Mba Graduates.
6. MA Education 02 Years B.A. under 10+2+3 pattern with Education as one of the subjects having secure at least 45% marks for genral cat and 40% for other categories or B.Ed with 50% marks for genral catand 45% for other categories or B.A./B.Sc with 24 Core Credits in the Discipline/subject, either as cone or Generic Elective at UG Level and CBCS scheme.

Note:- 70% seats shall be reserved for the candidates with Education as one of the subjects in their Graduation and 30% for candidates having B.Ed.

7. M.Com 02 Years Three-year B Com/B.Com (Honours)/BBA/BBM/BBS or BA/BSc with PG Diploma in Accountancy/ Cost &Management Accountancy.
8. PG Diploma in Computer Applications(PGDCA) 01 Yr Graduation in any discipline with 50% marks or equivalent.
9. PG Dip in Web desining (PGDWD) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
10. PG Dip in Cyber Law (PGDCL) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
11. PG Diploma in Consumer Law & Practice (PGDCLP) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
12. PG Dip in Tourism Management (PGDTM) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
13. PG Dip in Business Entrepreneurship (PGDBE) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
14. PG Dip in Business Administration (PGDBA) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
15. PG Dip in Home Science (PGDHS) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
16. PG Dip in Urdu Journalism(PGDUJ) 01 Yr Graduation with 10+2+3 pattern with 40% marks
