Police arrests one person for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Kulgam

July 30: Police in Kulgam have arrested an accused person involved in kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl within one hour after complaint was received.

Police Station Kulgam received a written complaint from an individual alleging therein that her daughter was kidnapped and assaulted sexually by two persons namely Shahrukh Safdar Khan son of Safdar Ahmad Khan and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan son of Fayaz Ahmad Khan both the residents of Chattabal Kulgam.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 183/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, a Police team headed by SHO PS Kulgam under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Kulgam was constituted to arrest the accused persons involved in the commission of crime. The Police team after strenuous efforts and utilizing all available means arrested one accused namely Shahrukh Safdar Khan within one hour after complaint received by Police. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody. Moreover, efforts are on to effect the arrest of another accused involved in the commission of crime.

As a part of investigation, necessary medico-legal formalities were carried out and the girl was handed over to her legal heirs.

Further investigation into the matter is in progress.

Police seizes 03 vehicles for illegal extraction & transportation of clay

July 30: Police in Budgam have seized 02 vehicles and 01 JCB involved in illegal extraction and transportation of clay from Khan Sahab area of Budgam.

Officers from Police Post Waterhail have seized two vehicles & one JCB involved in extraction and transportation of clay illegally extracted from Govt land at Gund-Ali-Nayak in Khan Sahab area of Budgam. Two drivers have also been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

A case vide FIR No. 170/2021 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Khansahab and investigation have been initiated.

Police requests the people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
