A BSF spokesman told news agency that alert troops spotted a drone (Hexacopter) near the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Jabowal village in Arnia sector.

“It was trying to cross the international border and was meant for carrying out surveillance of the area”, he said adding, “Alert BSF personnel started shooting at it after which the drone returned”.

The new challenge has sent the security forces into a tizzy in J&K.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Ravendra Pal Singh , Army Commander Western Command, which is responsible for security of strategically important Jammu-Pathankot highway and operational areas falling along International Border (IB) and hinterlands in Jammu-Samba-Kathua (J&K), Pathankot-Gurdaspur (Punjab) and Himachal Pradesh, visited Jammu based Air Force Station to review the status of the investigation into June 27 drone attacks.

“Western Army Commander Lt Gen RP Singh along with his team of army officers visited the Air Force Station, Jammu, today,” defence sources told news agency.

They said that Singh interacted with the investigators of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and other experts to know the progress of the investigation.

NSG Director and CISF Acting Chief also visited the spot to access the ground report. The Ministry of Home Affairs has handed over the investigation to the NIA.

Pertinently, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are on high alert following June 27 drone attack on the Air Force Station (AFS) Jammu.
