CUK holds webinar on ‘stress management and online education’

Ganderbal, June 3: School of Education (SoE), Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a webinar on ‘Stress Management and Online Education: A Pedagogical Perspective.’

Around 290 individuals participated in the programme aimed at addressing the issues related to challenges faced by the students’ due to Covid-19 crisis.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, said “this programme is in continuation with the webinar series, SoE has been conducting since the outbreak of Covid.” He said, “the lockdown has forced educational institutions to switch over from traditional face-to-face mode of education to the virtual one wherein both of them have their own sets of unique strengths and limitations.” Prof. Mir emphasized that, “let there be a meaningful and result-oriented interaction between the participants—especially the students—and the invited expert.”

In his address, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, observed, “all walks of life have been hit by Covid crisis and we have to enrich our understanding about the strategies we are required to employ in order to deal with the stress effectively.” He said, “stress management is the buzzword these days and the participants should utilize this opportunity in terms of having a meaningful discourse. Prof. Zargar revealed, “online classes need to be graced with elements of interest, entertainment, fun and interaction between the teacher and the taught.

Rehabilitation Therapist Consultant, Ms. Nuzhat ul Saba, delivered the keynote address and said, “we should not let stress become a part and parcel of our lives. We need to have an accepting attitude towards the problems which surround us and that is possible only if we are nurturing a stable mind within ourselves. Self-realization is the key in having a peaceful mind and religious bent of mind plays a positive role in achieving mental peace. The attitude of accepting stress as a stimulant in motivating us to be resilient in the face of adversity is going to help our cause of dealing with it in the first place.”

Dean SoE, Dr. Syed Zahoor Ahmad Geelani, welcomed the participants and remarked that, “we are privileged to have an influential rehabilitation therapist consultant who is going to help us in managing stress in these trying times.”

 

Assistant Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sayid Bhat, conducted the programme proceedings while former Dean, SoE, Prof. Nighat Basu, proposed the vote of thanks.
