There’s a discernable pattern in the recognition of Israel by Arab rulers over the past several decades. In all cases the US played a key role in bringing Arab rulers around by holding out arms sales as carrots or acceding to other demands best suited to their needs.
But hostility towards Iran among many Arab regimes, especially in the Gulf, has always been a major driving force behind the establishment of diplomatic links and the public strengthening of security ties with Israel at a time when US is believed by Arab ruling regimes as an unreliable ally against Tehran and Ankara.
