It was given out that the selected youth were earlier imparted one-month training by Master Trainers of the Department of Sheep Husbandry.

While distributing the machines, the DC interacted with the tribal youth and urged them to earn their livelihood by making use of the machines that have been provided to them. He said the activity will be helpful in livelihood generation as hardly 5 percent of sheep population in the district is machine shorn creating huge employment opportunities in the area.

He said the service that they will provide to the other sheep rearers of the cluster will help them in earning a handsome amount every year.

The DC urged the youth to avail the benefit of several schemes sponsored by the central or UT government to start their income generation units. He said the only solution to fight the unemployment menace is to avail benefit of these welfare schemes and start one’s own income generation units.

He said there are numerous success stories of the people who are running successful businesses by availing benefits of such welfare schemes.

Dr Owais urged the officers to focus on creating awareness at village level among the youngsters about these schemes so that they are benefited. He asked them to involve members of Panchayat Raj Institutions and other focused groups to create awareness.
