The Corps Commander mentioned that he was glad that the team chose Baramulla for the effort. People of Baramulla have contributed to peace in Kashmir since Octber 1947, the time when tribals sent by Pakistan entered Baramulla town & ravaged it. In those challenging times the people of Baramulla and the Indian Army fought alongside to save Kashmir from falling into the hands of Pakistan. Local heroes like Maqbool Sherwani died fighting the tribals. The town of Baramulla has always been peaceful & committed to development. He also mentioned that the town is blessed with a secular fabric and has Mandirs, Masjids, Gurudwaras & Churches, with people taking pride in showcasing all of them with same zeal and fervour.
