Ahead of opening Tulip Garden in J&K PM Modi asks people to enjoy warm hospitality’*

Srinagar, Mar 25: The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed people to visit Tulip Garden located in the foothills of the Zabarawan mountain range in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden formerly known as Siraj Bagh, was opened in 2008 by then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
Ahead of opening of the World famous Tulip Garden, the PM Modi urged people to visit Jammu and Kashmir and enjoy the warm hospitality of the people there.
In a tweet shot just before a day of opening of Tulip Garden in Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “Tomorrow, 25th March is special for Jammu and Kashmir. A majestic tulip garden on the foothills of the Zabarwan Mountains will open for visitors. The Garden will see over 15 lakh flowers of more than 64 varieties in bloom.”
The Floriculture Department plants tulip bulbs in a phased manner so that the flowers remain in the garden for a month or more.
Pertinently, the Tulip Garden will be opened to the general public on Thursday where visitors can catch the mesmerizing view of more than 1.5 million flowers of more than 64 varieties.
In another tweet, PM Modi said, “Whenever you get the opportunity, do visit Jammu and Kashmir and witness the scenic Tulip festival. In addition to the tulips, you will experience the warm hospitality of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
However the Asia’s largest tulip garden, overlooking the famous Dal Lake here, will be thrown open to the public on Thursday, marking the beginning of new tourism season in the Kashmir.
Meanwhile the Tourism Department has planned a cultural programme at the garden in the first week of next month as part of the beginning of the new tourism season in the Valley.
