March 09: Police in Ganderbal have arrested a timber smuggler and seized illicit timber from his possession.
Acting on specific information, a team from Police Station Gund led by SHO Police Station Gund under the close supervision of SDPO Kangan Syed Yasir Qadri- JKPS seized a large quantity of illegally timber from the possession of one accused person identified as Riyaz Ah Bajran son of Mohd Rafiq Bajran resident of Village Hilpati Haknar Gund. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Gund and investigation has been taken up.
The drive against timber smugglers will continue to ensure protection of Green Gold. Our consistent actions against anti social elements should reassure the community members that we are making every effort to keep our society free of crime. Police has resolved to act as per law against those who indulge in criminal activities.
