The school education department has constituted 4-tier monitoring teams to monitor adherence to Covid19 SOPs and preparedness in government and private schools. The teams will work at divisional level, district level, zonal level and cluster level to ensure proper adherence to SOPs by all government and private schools.
The order in this regard was issued by the Director School Education Kashmir (DSEK) Muhammad Younis Malik.
The order comes a day after the Gk reported about the loopholes in implementations of the Covid19 SOPs.
As per the order, the divisional level monitoring teams will be headed by joint director central and north Kashmir districts, Abid Hussain, who will will monitor Srinagar and Budgam districts while joint director south Kashmir Bilal Khurshid will monitor adherence of Covid19 SOPs in all south Kashmir districts.
Joint director SSA Shamasudin Bhat will monitor the government and private schools in north Kashmir districts while Personnel Officer Muzamil Maqbool has been allotted Budgam district to monitor implementation of SOPs in schools.
Similarly, the district level monitoring teams will comprise of concerned Chief Education Officer (CEO), deputy CEO and district education planning officer while the cluster level monitoring teams will comprise of higher secondary principal and headmaster of respective high schools and the zonal level teams will comprise of the zonal education officer, block resource persons and cluster resource persons respectively.
“Besides these teams, concerned district institutes of education and training along with district resource groups shall also formulate monitoring teams,” the order reads.
The directorate has also devised a format for the monitoring teams to submit their reports to the department on a daily basis.
“The monitoring teams will report daily as per the format both in online and offline mode and shall observe all the required protocol in schools,” the order reads.
As per the order, the monitoring teams have been instructed to ensure frequent cleanliness and disinfectants of school infrastructure and equipment besides proper waste management in the premises.
Notably, the government and private schools have already started classes for students of class 9th to 12th while the classes for primary to class 8th students will resume from March 8.
“The monitoring teams will ensure that teachers and students are wearing face mask besides maintenance of hand hygiene by students and teachers,” the order reads, adding that physical distance of two meters by students and teachers should be at all places in the school including classrooms, playground corridors, stairs, besides the entry and exit points and while serving mid-day meals at the institutions.
The monitoring committees will also monitor availability of hand washing stations, separate toilet facilities, soaps and sanitisers in the school.
“Formulation of Covid19 task teams consisting of teachers and volunteer students in the schools and staggering of time table in odd-even mode, flexible, reduced time table of students’ attendance in case of high enrollment schools should be done,” the order reads.
It further states that the teams should ensure that congregations are banned in schools and sharing of students belongings should be discouraged.
“Teams will monitor sanitization of school transport and maintenance of physical distance and other SOPs during commuting of students. The mental well being of students should be ensured as well,” the order reads.
