Expressing dismay over the failure of the administration to live up to its obligations during the ongoing winter season, Party’s South Zone President Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri said that Administration has failed miserably on all fronts despite clear warning by the weatherman. “Paralysis of administration is displayed by non clearance of roads, non availability of drinking water and electricity in majority towns and villages of South Kashmir even after lapse of 48 hours. Patients are unable to reach hospital due to closure of roads & several casualties have already occurred at different places. Several houses, cow sheds & other structures have damaged & few people have lost their lives as well. Leaving interior roads, the major arterials are still buried under snow. The hapless people have been left to fend for themselves, with ground staffers and machinery nowhere visible on ground to help them endure the weather vagary. The situation has turned appalling in view of the shortage of various edibles and no availability of electricity and water,” he said.

Veeri said the administration was duty bound to come to the rescue of people and ensure that the normal day to day life is restored back to usual as soon as possible. The process of restoration of water, electricity and road connectivity, he said should be given preference. Meantime he urged the Government to assess damages to the properties and livestock of the people whose stand at the receiving end due to the heavy snowfall. He urged the divisional and district administration to swing its men and machinery into action to restore road connectivity to Shalgam, sirhama, khiram, Marhama, Kanalwan, Nanil, Akura, Auang, Mattan Banderpora, wopzen, Aswara, Dupatyar, Katriteng, Panjpora, Waghama, Veer, Guree hamlets of Bijbehara on priority basis as the predicaments of the people living there have compounded on account of loss of commute with district headquarters and unavailability of water, electricity and necessary edibles,” he said.
